![]() ![]() Obviously 2v2 is enough to test this in a total war game. This way we can squeze in 4-6-8 players in 2v2-3v3-4v4. So how can we get up too 4 players and still have two turn time limits?Įasy we use simultaneous turns for the two allied players meaning they can perform actions almost simultaneous, Almost? Yes if they decide to move towards the same spot obviously the person who clicked first and have the better connection will get it first. The concept is simple, 4 player individual turns would take too long. In the hopes that CA picked it up early enough and have the balls enough to implement it. I go around telling this over and over again for years. In my point of view there is just way too much potential in multiplayer to leave it the way it is, and single player AI can only move forward so quickly since the AI people make up such a small percentage of the overall developing team. Such a feature would also make for a really lively 8 person hotseat campaign since you would only need two people online to keep an 8 person game moving along. A LAN hotseat would also be great for families that may only have one computer capable of playing the game, but where several people would be interested in playing.Īs an aside, I would love to be able to pick friends from my Steam friends list to be able to play against in either single player campaigns as a drop in, or in the multiplayer games as a means of making a 4 player coop more difficult (Hell, you could even have a 5th person be the group's nemesis by playing all the cpu factions during battles against the coop team). Considering it's really just moving a save file around it shouldn't take much development effort either. While I wouldn't personally use it, I can see how it would be a big deal for people in different time zones who can't find the time to play simultaneously, and I can see why people with limited internet would appreciate such a feature. The hotseat concept as an email option was mentioned in several posts. I actually enjoy my time waiting between turns because I can get so much done, and still enjoy the game especially if I can opt in to spectate the occasional as well. In regards to waiting, I don't mind the wait because I can do any number of things during my friend's turns such as playing another game via a console (I love RPG's for this since I can pause those when my turn rolls around), reading, watching a movie etc. The biggest hurdle would be working through the disconnect issues, but that's why they have networking developers on their team. The game ships with a working 4v4 multiplayer battle function so it can handle that many people in a battle at once, and it ships with a campaign mode that already keeps track of everything so I don't understand what the problem is. If you don't want that many then don't play with that many, but please don't limit my own experience because of your misgivings. I would like at least an 8 person campaign multiplayer setup. But, to CA and SEGA : if not, if you want, you can "try" with an add-on ? and why not try with a new serie game, same graphic engine that total war, same game system except that it will in real time ? A bomb baby !! i can understand that the communauty dont want a total war in real time. Try this game (koh) and you will see what could be a total war in real time. When you play a 3D battle, IA control your faction time you finish. And we can abord this option with an ADD-ON (or a stand alone ?) "total war Rome II : real time" ? so, you will have a turn by turn, 2 players for multi campaign with the vo game, and max players possible (with the number of faction) for the add-on ? and possibility for the host to close factions to humans players if you want less players. Yes you can play at 2, but you can play at 20 with this system. The real time is an solution to have massiv multi-players (i speak about campaign ! not a simple multi battle). If you want more that 2 players in a multiplayers campaign, you need dont wait lot of minute pear player. If you dont know what it could offer, buy or download the game "Knight of honor", you will see, its similar to total war but in real time except that in the game we cant play multiplayers in campaign (Petitions were made but the publisher did not want because it was not included in the original budget and today it's too late because the studio was bought by crytek.) guys, why you dont think to the real time system for the mutiplayer campaign ? ![]()
